Immunology Scientist & Clinical Trial Operations Strategist
Senior Consultant

Dr. Nitasha Kumar brings more than 15 years of hands-on experience in immunology, clinical trial operations, and laboratory leadership across Australia and the United States. She’s known for being the bridge between complex science and smooth operations — the person who can look at a workflow, a protocol, or a struggling study and immediately see where quality, speed, and clarity can be improved.

Her background spans translational research, multi-site clinical trials, and laboratory optimisation. She has deep expertise in flow cytometry, multi-omics, molecular assay development, and biobanking. She also brings extensive experience preparing ethics and regulatory submissions, coordinating site activations, managing eDC data quality, and ensuring programs stay aligned with GCP/GCLP and all regulatory requirements.

Teams who work with her quickly notice her calm leadership style and her ability to turn complicated challenges into clear, doable steps. She brings a strategic mindset, compassionate communication, and a steady focus on improving efficiency, compliance, and scientific impact. Whether it’s reshaping an assay pipeline, tightening governance, fixing gaps in documentation, or guiding a team through a fast-moving clinical trial, Nitasha delivers with precision and a long-view approach.

At LabRat Consulting, she helps organizations strengthen their research operations, optimize laboratory systems, and build teams that perform at a higher level — all while keeping the science sharp and the work human.

Nitasha’s Personal Journey:

I was the child who asked “why” to every statement and request, and the young adult who chose the path less travelled. Guided by values of supporting and empowering those around me, and a commitment to sharing the knowledge I have been fortunate to gain, my career goal has become clear: to bring research techniques into the clinical trial space through the team science model—building productive, well-trained, and empowered teams that achieve more together.

Whilst volunteering in Delhi, India, I saw first-hand the benefits of partnership. Grants from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation supported antiretroviral therapy for people living with HIV and AIDS, connected them to counselling and health services, and facilitated research into acute HIV infection. My further travels across India, Southern Africa, and Australasia reinforced this perspective, showing me, both the struggles faced by diverse communities and the transformative benefits that clinical trials and community partnerships can bring. This experience has shaped my career, where I have been privileged to work alongside exceptional research scientists to advance clinical research, deepen our understanding of immune function, and support community education around infectious diseases.

My training journey in Australia and the USA (Bach. Biomed Sci with Honours, PhD, and postdoctoral training) reflects a constant drive to understand every detail of the projects and experiments I’ve undertaken. This has made me a well-rounded, multiskilled scientist with expertise in sample processing and management, experimental design in immunology (particularly flow cytometry), single-cell sequencing, and team science. In recent years, management training has strengthened my abilities as a mentor and coach, while sharpening my project and change management skills.

When working together, I can help you align with best practices, maximise the value of your samples and data, and ensure compliance with local regulatory frameworks. Most importantly, I look forward to building a genuine partnership that achieves the best outcomes for you, your patients, and your team.
